GOLD COAST- Handmade Earrings with African Sandcast Glass Trade Beads

These earrings feature African handmade sandcast glass trade beads and Baltic amber dangles. They measure 2 1/2" total length and a finished with antiqued brass beads and ear wires.
I bought a few strands of African trade beads a few years ago and they often have many different kinds of glass sandcast beads. They come in all shapes, colors and sizes, and they are awesome, with variations attesting to their handmade nature.

I matched these beads from one of the old strands and enjoy the unique handpainted look and crafted feel. They are finished with antique brass beads and ear wires with a tiny stack of baltic amber bead dangles. They are also accented with a small malachite bead which compliments the stroke of green on the beads.

TRADE BEADS- Rediscovering Trade Beads of African and Native American trade has been inspiring and educational. Beads have been the passion of humans from earliest history.  Each bead used in trade has an unknown past of great interest and collectible value.

Malachite is thought to be a stone of good fortune and prosperity\/abundance, too. Malachite is also a very protective stone according to folklore.
