JOURNEY- GENUINE Jade and Turquoise Bracelet with African Brass Trade Bead

This bracelet is representative of the journeys of those who may have worn these beads. The brass focal bead is handmade by lost-wax casting and is still made today as in primitive metalworking.
Turquoise is another "old" stone revered by many civilizations and is complimented by natural Nephrite Jade barrels and rounds. Old African Bauxite handmade beads are enhanced by the small brass trade bead spacers and rice beads. The bracelet measures 8 3/4" and has a brass toggle clasp. Each bead used in trade has an unknown past of great interest and collectible value.
BRASS TRADE BEADS-Brass has been used in many forms in Africa and still is today. There intricate spiral and woven beads have been made in different regions by lost wax casting. Many of the small bicones and heishi spacers beads have their origin as prayer beads from Ethiopia and Kenya. The various forms have been used in trade for goods, which is why they are called trade beads.

BAUXITE TRADE BEADS- Bauxite is a kind of aluminium ore and is a beautiful dark rusty chestnut color. These wonderful old beads are cut, carved, polished and drilled by hand in Africa. Most of the production of bauxite beads today is in Ghana, African, in a small village called Akyem Abompe. It is a unique center of bead production where practically each family is maintaining themselves through manufacture of beads.

TURQUOISE- Egyptians prized Turquoise as a Life Stone. The oldest pieces of jewelry set with this gem are four bracelets found on the mummified arm of Queen Zar. She ruled in Egypt about 5500 BC.
Highly revered in Tibet, a Turquoise stone was carried throughout one's entire life & the finest stones were considered more valuable than gold. Turquoise is considered to be a symbol of generosity, sincerity, and affection.
